Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on nielsenandbrown.com, and how you can control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to remember your preferences, understand how the site is used, or enable certain functionality. Some cookies are essential to running a website; others are optional and only set when you give your consent.
Our approach
By default, no analytics or marketing cookies are set when you arrive on our site. We use Google's Consent Mode v2, which means analytics tracking is denied until you actively accept it via the cookie banner.
If you decline, no analytics cookies are set on your device. Google may still receive anonymous, aggregated signals that cannot identify you, but no tracking cookies are placed and no individual browsing data is collected about you.
If you change your mind later, you can click "Cookie Settings" in the footer of our homepage to reopen the consent banner and update your choice.
Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These cookies are necessary for the site to function properly and do not require your consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
nb-consent |
Remembers your cookie consent choice (accepted or declined) so the banner does not reappear on every visit. Set as a cookie on nielsenandbrown.com, so the choice also applies on our AI Readiness Score tool at score.nielsenandbrown.com and you are only asked once. | Persistent (until you clear your browser storage or change your choice) |
nb-attrib |
If you arrive from an advert or a campaign link, this remembers which campaign it was, so that if you send us an enquiry we can see where it came from. Held only for the current browsing session and never used for advertising. | Session (cleared when you close the tab) |
Analytics cookies (only set if you accept)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our site in aggregate. They are only set after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes individual users for analytics, in a way that does not directly identify them | 2 years | Google Analytics |
_ga_V9Q0XLTP7Q |
Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state for our specific property | 2 years | Google Analytics |
We retain analytics data in Google Analytics for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
We do not use marketing, advertising, or social media tracking cookies.
Third-party services that may set cookies or receive data
Beyond the cookies above, our site loads resources from a small number of third-party services. These may receive technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) as part of normal web requests, even though they do not set tracking cookies on our site.
- Google Fonts — provides the typefaces used on the site. Receives basic request data when your browser fetches font files. Google states that this data is not used for advertising.
- EmailJS — used to deliver contact form submissions to us. Only processes data you actively submit through the form, and only when you submit it.
- GitHub Pages — hosts the site. May log standard web server information (IP, browser, page) for operational and security purposes.
Changing your choice
You can update your cookie preferences at any time:
- On our site: click "Cookie Settings" in the footer of our homepage to reopen the consent banner and accept or decline analytics cookies.
- In your browser: most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear existing cookies via their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site.
